Why 'Months Old' Is Trickier Than It Looks

Months vary in length — anywhere from 28 to 31 days — so dividing your total days alive by 30 gives a wrong, drifting answer. The correct method counts actual calendar months elapsed, the same way the years/months/days breakdown works, rather than using an average month length.

Someone who has been alive for exactly 2 years has been alive for 24 calendar months. But 730 days ÷ 30 only gives you 24.3 — an answer that gets progressively more wrong the older you get.
